Baptist Bariatric Center - Online Assessment

Below is our Online Assessment tool. Simply click the next step when you have filled out your information or reviewed our Bariatric links.

  • Step 1
  • Step 2
  • Step 3

Step One: Am I A Candidate?

Determine your BMI (body mass Index) to see if you qualify for surgery.

Body mass index (BMI) measures weight for height and provides a way to estimate the effect of weight on health. The higher the BMI, the greater the risk of some diseases, including high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, stroke, osteoarthritis, some cancers, and type 2 diabetes.

How does the BMI Calculator work?

Our online BMI calculator determines a patient's specific BMI using the following equation:

BMI = (pounds x 703)/(height inches squared).

Step Two: Various Weight-Loss Surgery Options

Familiarize yourself with the Weight-Loss surgeries we provide laparoscopically. Many other weight-loss surgery centers provide only one type of surgery.

In each of the links below we provide a greater description of our weight-loss surgeries.
The following links will open a new page. Close the window to return to this page.

Lap-Band Surgery - The idea behind the operation is to create a small pouch in the upper part of the stomach with a controlled and adjustable stoma, without stapling, thus limiting food intake.

Roux en Y Weight-Loss Surgery - Weight-Loss surgery makes the stomach smaller and allows food to bypass part of the small intestine. You will feel full more quickly than when your stomach was its original size, which reduces the amount of food you eat and thus the calories consumed.
